My Stringbed Log

Keep your racquets, string setups and tension readings in one place, compare every reading with your fresh-string baseline, and export the history as CSV. Your log stays in this browser and is never sent to us.

Your log stays in this browser. It is not synced to other browsers, devices or the String Tension AI app, and clearing site data or using a private window can erase it. Download a backup to keep a copy. The app cannot import these files. See the privacy policy for details.

Build a baseline, then watch the relative change

A stringbed log is most useful as a record of relative change. One reading on its own says little; the same racquet measured the same way after every few sessions shows the direction and size of the change from your own fresh-string baseline.

  1. Record a baseline soon after restringing. Mark that reading as the fresh-string baseline. The stringer's reference tension (the machine setting) is a separate field, because a finished stringbed rarely reads the same number.
  2. Measure under similar conditions. Use the same method, the same spot on the stringbed and a similar temperature, and note indoor or outdoor play. Our guide to measuring string tension compares the practical methods.
  3. Read the trend, not one number. The log shows each reading's change from the baseline in your unit and in percent, the same arithmetic as the racquet tension checker.
  4. Decide with more than tension. Comfort, control, feel, hours played, visible wear and breakage all matter. The guide on when to restring explains how to combine them.

When a setup has a material, a reference tension, a stringing date and your weekly hours, the log adds an illustrative estimate from the same simple tension-loss model as the tension loss calculator. It is an educational curve, not a measurement or a forecast for your strings.

What the log stores, and where

Everything is kept under one entry in this browser's local storage: your racquets, string setups, readings, unit and weekly hours. Nothing you type is sent to String Tension AI or to analytics. Website analytics record only that an export, backup or clear button was used, never the values.

  • Not synced. Another browser, another device or the app will not see this log.
  • Can be erased. Clearing site data, private windows and some browser cleanup settings remove it. Download a backup now and then.
  • Exports match the app's headers. Readings use the measurement-history columns (Date, Time, Racquet, String, Tension, Tension Loss, Quality, Calibration, Environment, Notes); restrings use the restring-report columns. Calibration is left blank and Quality is unavailable, because a typed number was not measured by the app.

The calculators on this site can fill in from your active setup and save to it with Use my saved setup and Save to my log. The privacy policy describes browser-stored data in full.

Stringbed log FAQ

Where is my stringbed log stored?

Only in this browser's local storage on this device. It is never sent to String Tension AI, it does not sync between browsers or devices, and it is not shared with the iPhone app. Clearing site data, a private window or a browser cleanup setting can erase it, so download a backup from time to time.

Can I import the log into the String Tension AI app?

No. The app cannot import these files. The CSV exports use the same column headers as the app's measurement history and restring report exports so you can compare them in a spreadsheet, and the JSON backup restores only into this web log.

Is a typed reading the same as a measurement?

The log stores the number you enter; it does not measure anything. Readings are most useful as relative change: compare readings taken with the same method under similar conditions against your own fresh-string baseline. Exported rows leave Calibration blank and mark Quality as unavailable for that reason.

Does the log tell me when to restring?

No. It shows the change from your baseline and, when you add the details, an illustrative model estimate. Comfort, control, feel, playing hours, visible wear and breakage still decide the restring window.

Take readings you can repeat

String Tension AI measures your stringbed on iPhone in about 30 seconds and keeps each racquet's history. Core measurements are free.
